Gold Silver Ratio The gold/silver ratio (GSR) is the current price of an ounce of gold divided by the current price of an ounce of silver. It’s a simple numerical calculation that shows how many multiples gold is trading relative to the price of silver, a common indicator used by precious metals investors worldwide. Totals for Gold and Silver holdings including the ratio percent of gold versus silver will be calculated. At the time this was written, the gold-to-silver ratio stood at approximately 50 to 1. That means, at the current price, it would take 50 ounces of silver to buy 1 ounce of gold.

For example, if gold is at $1200 per ounce and silver is at $15 per ounce, the ratio would be calculated as $1200/$15 = 80. This means it would take 80 ounces of silver to buy a single ounce of gold.
